Happy Friday, Families! Starting today, we will be sending newsletters on Fridays, instead of Tuesdays. This will allow us to include any important updates from the Thursday Public Health meetings, if need be. We have no school related Covid updates to include today. Thank you to all the families who are participating in Covid testing before your child returns to school after minor illness. It may be an inconvenience, but it is important. At some point, it may prevent a spread throughout an entire classroom. Keeping all students safe and learning in school is our high priority. Thank you for your help in this endeavor! Important Dates, Events & Information
As we begin the new school year, please review the following items:
Sign your child in and out of school each time they come late or leave school during the day. There is a clipboard outside the office for this purpose.
Call the office, or preferably, email both the classroom teacher and the office if your child will be late or absent from school. Also include the reason for the absence.
If you need to change your student's end of day plans, please call the office before 2:45, to ensure the message gets to the classroom/student in time.
Students should arrive at school no earlier than 7:50 am and meet their classroom at their designated site.
Enter the parking lot only after all buses have left and the crossing guard is no longer at the crosswalk. Otherwise, please drop off/pick up your students at the crosswalk on 5th Street. We are not set up to safely use the Gunflint Trail for this.

GES welcomed students back a week ago, and they have had a full-speed and cheerful first week of school. This fall we continue to follow Public Health guidelines to limit exposure between classrooms, and so traded in our traditional Fall Beach Day (an all-school event) for a repeat of last year's Outdoor Day. The weather cooperated for a beautiful day filled with time in the woods and on the beach.
