COMMUNITY EVENTS – Last weekend, our community held two big events that Great Expectations was involved in.
o The 1st Annual Community Apple Fest took place in multiple locations, including the GES Orchard. Thanks to our Environmental Education instructor, Erik Hahn for overseeing this event by leading tours, assisting apple picking families, helping young people press apple cider in our new cider press and sharing much information about our orchard. It was a long, but “fruitful” day! Thanks, also to the many families who purchased apples. The proceeds will go toward funding Environmental Ed and Science programs at GES.
o Moose Madness also took place last weekend with several Otters students assisting with the prize table, wearing the moose costume and interacting with visiting families at the Cook County Visitors Bureau. A donation was pledged to the Otters classroom if they reached a quota for volunteering – which they did! Thank you, Otters parents for helping to make this possible.
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL SURVEY – Please click on the link in the SRTS attachment to complete the GES parent survey. Your input is valuable for the future of our pedestrian pathways.
Have a great week!
