01/28/20 GES News

Greetings, GES Families! This week's news:

SUCCESSFUL STORYTELLING CAMPFIRE

As in the past, last Friday's Storytelling Campfire was a big hit with students and staff, alike!  From polar bears without tails to student involved progressive storytelling, there was much to hold the attention as students moved through the various stations outside school.  Hot cocoa around the campfire made it an even more enjoyable event.  Sincere thanks to our storytellers and parents who helped this event go smoothly.

SLEDS! - Thank you, also to:

Cook County Home Center for donating 12 sleds for student use and Gary Nesgoda for putting ropes on the sleds so students can pull themOur snow mounds are busy with fun sledding activity during every recess!

OTTER'S FUNDRAISER

Thank you to all those who participated in last Sunday's service trip fundraiser!  It was great to see everyone and enjoy a hearty meal and fantastic music together - all for a worthy cause.  If you were not able to take part, but still wish to support the Otter's efforts to raise funds for their service trip to Costa Rica, another event is in the works (details will be forthcoming)!  In addition, a Go Fund Me account has been set up for the Otters.Go Fund Me

NO SCHOOL

Friday, 2/14 (staff workshop)Monday, 2/17 (President's Day).

STUDENT ABSENCES

Parents, please be sure to contact the office (or, just include me on emails to the classroom teacher) when your child will be absent for any reason.  If we do not hear from parents within 24 hours, the absence will turn into an unexcused.  Thank you to parents who already put this into practice.  We realize there can be a lot going on to make arrangements when a child is ill or a family is going out of town.

Have a great week! Lesa
