Rite of Passage
GES alumni joined the current Otters class and GES staff for a semi-formal banquet to mark the end of the year and, for some, the end of their GES experience. Thanks to GES educators Christina Anderson and Kathryn Nelson-Pedersen for leading this group all year, and to Julie O’Neil and Craig Luchsinger for putting together a fantastic event. Thanks also to our servers for the evening: Dominique Holz, Dave Ingebrigtsen, MikeMcMillan, Gina Todd, and Vanessa Ramos-Rios.

We appreciate the help of all those who came to last Saturday’s work day: Kristin Blomberg, Maria Callender, Dave Ingebrigtsen, Susan Miller, Kestral and Stirling Pollock with their Grandma, Mike and Karina Roth, and Jerry Starr. We got some important jobs done. Thank you, so much! Thank you to Maria Callender, Amy Henrikson and Dominique Holz for covering the front desk. Thank you to Amy James for the transplanting help as we get ready for our greenhouse sale. Thank you to Dominique Holz and Gina Todd for their weekly visits to work with the Otters. Thank you to Chris & Maria Callender, Lyle Gerard, and Walt McCarthy for their on-going efforts. We’d also like to thank Karina Roth for this week’s Friday lunch, along with Amy Henrikson and Dominique Holz for pitching in at the last minute to help with the serving and clean-up.
Graduation and Volunteer Recognition Wednesday, June 4th: Please join us at 11:00 on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 4th, as we honor GES volunteers during our annual graduation celebration. A brief program will be followed by an all-school cookout-style lunch. We invite all GES community members to share this event with us.
Summer Activities for Kids: We’ve attached a few flyers for summer programs available to students in the community. Check out our plans for the Fisherman’s Picnic parade, free admission to the Commercial Fishing Museum in Tofte, and a whole slew of activities brought together through the “We Can!” program (including a 4H Horse Adventure led by our very own Patsy Ingebrigtsen!). There’s no excuse for the B-word (bored) this summer!
Greenhouse Plant Sale and Pancake Breakfast NEXT SATURDAY!: Our final fundraiser of the year comes just in time for spring planting. Come shop our selection of herbs, vegetables, flowering plants, and more. Better yet, bring some friends! Everyone can enjoy the wonderful pancake breakfast, as well. Tickets for breakfast are $5.00 each.
Year-end Activities Abound: Wolves to the Wolf Center, Otters to Oberg Mountain, Bear Cubs and Fawns to the harbor – talk with your students about these exciting excursions! There are also opportunities for you to join in classroom outings – give us a call!
Congratulations Champs!: Dan and Rachel won this year’s Otter badminton tourney!
