Get Involved with Volunteering

There are many ways to get involved at Great Expectations School. Volunteer opportunties are open to parents and families of students, as well as to Cook County community members.

Volunteers who work with students must complete a background check. GES has the forms, and will process the paperwork and pay the required fee.

Below is a list of current volunteer opportunties. If you are interested, please contact Patsy at the school office:

Facilities

Folks needed for the occasional "deep cleaning" of the school building.

Front Desk Volunteer

Time commitment: 1-3 hours per session.
Description: Answer phones and/or do some basic computer or office tasks.

Committee Volunteers

Time commitment: 1-3 hours per meeting, usually once each month. We would appreciate a minimum 1 year commitment for any committee membership. However, many committees (e.g. fundraising) have short-term projects which would benefit from volunteer support.
Description: Current committees are: Personnel/Policy, Finance (including fundraising), and Community Relations.

Lunch Preparation Volunteer

Time commitment: 1-3 hours on occasional Fridays.
Description: Prepare, serve, and clean up after Friday Community lunches. You will be working with at least one other volunteer, and often dividing preparation and clean up tasks. Teams rotate Fridays throughout the year.

RecyclingClassroom/Mentor Volunteers

Our recycling is pre-sorted and needs to be driven to the recycling center once a week.

Library

Training provided for anyone interested in entering books into the system or reshelving books.
