School Board Meeting Minutes

In Attendance:

4:20 Call to Order

By Barb Nagle

4:22 Approval of Agenda

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to approve agenda. Patty Nordahl seconded. Ayes all.

4:24 Celebration Sentences

Each person present reported a celebratory moment during the past week at GES.

4:26 Approval of Minutes

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to approve the February 25 minutes. Amy Brown seconded. Ayes all.

4:27 Treasurer's Report

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to approve the list of bills for payment. Patty Nordahl seconded. Ayes all.
Barbara Nagle will check into the possibility of GES participating in the County Phone System.

4:35 Educator's Report

Conferences will be scheduled for the afternoons of March 24 and 26. A schedule will be given to the front desk.
March 18 is scheduled as a prep day for Kathryn and Kelley requiring one substitute.
March 22 is scheduled as a prep day for Suzy and Amy requiring two substitutes.
March 29 - April 1 is scheduled for open morning visitation for parents alone or parents bringing children.

5:01 New Business

Motion: David Parsons moved to hire Kari Merrit as the office administrator. Patty Nordahl seconded. Ayes all.
Kari Merritt will start on March 24.

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to hire Larry Livesay as a bus driver for GES contingent on approval of physical and background check. David Parsons seconded. Ayes all.

John Urgo is greatly assisting GES by being a short term substitute bus driver.

ACNW
Chaperones are required for K-2 students. Students that have a para need a parent and para to attend.
GES has budgeted for 47 people going. There is an additional 3 free chaperones that are covered by Audubon for a total of 50 people attending.
The ACNW trip is a part of the school curriculum and there will be no school held in Grand Marais during this time.
Siblings that do not attend GES are not permitted to attend ACNW.

Training
All staff should receive behavior/discipline training in April. Volunteers should be trained in May. Kerri Merrit should be trained in Responsive Classroom.

5:54 Enrollment Policy

The Board discussed the information to include in Enrollment Packet. Revisions will follow.
