School Board Meeting Minutes

4:00 Call to Order

4:02 Approval of Agenda
Motion: Tom moved to approve
agenda with the amendment of moving B&G Committee report
to item #1; Nina seconded; ayes all.
4:03 Committee Reports
1) Building & Grounds :: Tom Dwyer
Dr Chaffee & Tom Dwyer presented information concerning
our proposal for federal loan guarantee relevant to the facility.

Motion: Tom moved to table minutes;
Nina seconded; ayes all.
4:12 Treasurer's Report :: Tom Dwyer

Motion: Nina moved to accept
treasurer's report; Suzy seconded; ayes all.
4:14 Committee Reports
1) Enrollment ::
Nina Simonowicz reported on progress of committee. Grand Portage
has requested a presentation.
2) Building & Grounds ::
Tom Dwyer reported the search for sites continues. Suggested
looking at a building company which may require a separate
501(c)3.

1) Resource Coordinator's Report :: Deb Dwyer
~Working draft of proposed Service Learning federal egislation
has been announced.
~MACS Conference Feb 27-28 & Mar 1 (pre-registration by
Feb 14 for Suzy & Deb)
2) Curriculum Coordinator's Report :: Suzy Schweig
~Discussed Responsive Classroom training and possible grant
opportunity
~Reported on a contact made by a school counselor who would
like to provide assistance in school counseling options (and
things like Behavior Guidelines, Responsive Classroom, etc).
(Board gratefully accepted Terry's offer to head up grantwriting)

Hiring Process
Suzy reported on a meeting she & Deb had with Dr Larson-Kidd
concerning the hiring process.

1) January 28 Community Meeting Agenda
Barb presented the agenda. Board discussed what needs to be
done for preparations.
2) Board/Sponsor Retreat Agenda (Jan 30 - Feb 1)
Barb will send agendas via email.
3) February Board Meetings - tabled
4) Other
Mary Sanders, an ISD 166 School Board member and the board
of Great Expectations School discussed ways to start the process
of how the two entities might collaborate.
