Proposed Communication Policy
Students, staff, parents, and volunteers will communicate effectively in order to build a positive
school climate.
:: Clarify communication directly with the source
:: Communicate in a trustworthy, open and truthful manner
:: Express ideas clearly
:: Listen actively and encourage feedback.
:: Listen patiently for various purposes without disruption or interruption.
:: Communicate in a timely and on-going manner
:: Communicate with positive intent
:: Speaking voice is appropriate and effective
:: Uses appropriate body language (posture, facial expression, gestures, eye contact)
Proposed Homework Policy
GES believes that students need time to relax and Students are expected to read or be read to at least 20 minutes each day outside of school. We intend for homework to be inspired by the PLP: It may be given at the student's request; by the teacher to help the student practice and master skills needed for their toolbox; to research and work on projects; to involve the family in school activities, or to involve the child in community life. Parents need to inform the school if there is too much homework, if it does not serve the intended purpose, or if any other concerns arise. Each child will have a home-school notebook to be used as a communication tool between the school and family. Homework and other notes from the teacher will be written there, as well as notes from home. Students will be expected to share these notebooks with their families and their teachers.
