School Board Meeting Minutes


In Attendance:

Board: Amy Brown, Barb Nagle, Suzy Schweig, Nina Simonowicz, Alan Stone, David Parsons

4:02 Call to Order

By Barb Nagle
Welcome; Reading of the Mission by Lily Nelson-Pedersen. The board welcomed guests.

4:04 Approval of Agenda

Motion: David Parsons moved to Approve the Agenda; Suzy Schweig seconded. Ayes all.

4:06 Student Council Report

A reminder will go home with students on Thursday about party regarding food and bus times. A Student Activities Account will be started by Nina Simonowicz.

4:15 Parent-to-Parent Program

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to support Parent to Parent and will share information about this initiative via GES publications. David Parsons seconded. Ayes all.

4:35 Approval of Minutes

Motion: David Parsons moved to approve the February 4th minutes with the two changes: a spelling change and inserting the rewording of the weapons policy. Amy Brown seconded. Ayes all.

4:42 Treasurer's Report

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved for the Board to approve obtaining a revolving line of credit with a financial institution at a rate of prime plus one percent for $85,000 using our own collateral and the Kennedys as cosigners. David Parsons seconded. Ayes all.
Finance Committee recommends that any spending be approved by writing up a PO form.

5:23 Educator's Report

ACNW visit will be on April 26-28, 2004. Barbara Nagle suggested that by March 17 we have a plan in place to prepare students for this experience.
The decision to re-submit Sue Baren's Environmental Grant will be decided on by educators by February 12, 2004.
A volunteer discussion group will be scheduled (TBA) to share ideas of what's working well and what needs to be improved regarding volunteer responsibilities.

6:20 New Business

Bev Miller will be responsible for school photos.
Board authorized Alan STsone to spend up to $3500 for bus repairs.

Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to adjourn. Alan Stone seconded. Ayes all.
