4:00 Call to Order
by Barb Nagle
Welcome; and reading of Fairness Quote by Deb Dwyer & mission
by Nina Simonowicz.
4:05 Approval of Agenda
Motion: Nina Simonowicz
moved to approve the meeting agenda; Patty Nordahl seconded;
ayes all.
4:06 Approval of Minutes
Motion: Patty Nordahl moved
to approve the minutes from the November 17, 2003 Great Expectations
school board meeting; Nina Simonowicz seconded; ayes all.
4:08 Treasurer's Report
Motion: Nina Simonowicz
moved to approve the following spending limits on budgeted items,
except for Personnel; $500 for the Director and $250 for Educators;
Patty Nordahl seconded; discussion ensued; motion was withdrawn.
The Finance Committee meeting will be Friday, December 5 at
8:30am at GES.
4:45 Director's Report
Deb Dwyer reported that the most recent state reports have been
filed and the state replied that no errors occurred in the report;
recommended hiring Doug Gale as a full-time on-on-one Special
Ed paraprofessional beginning December 3rd dependent upon the
successful rreturn of a criminal background check; and provided
an update on items being done to fulfill the Fire Marshal's
request.
Motion: Alan Stone moved to approve the hiring of
Doug Gale as a full-time on-on-one Special Ed paraprofessional
beginning December 3rd dependent upon the successful rreturn
of a criminal background check; Patty Nordahl seconded; ayes
all.
Lease
Deb reported she is working on the addendums required to be
sent in with the lease.
Nina walked through the status on proposed lease changes noting
GES is leasing the entire lot section, GES will be responsible
for upkeep and maintenance of mechanical systems and if GES
wishes to sublease, written approval from the landlord is required.
Motion: Patty Nordahl moved
to approve the lease; David Parsons seconded; ayes all.
5:15 Old Business

FOOD
Nina passed out a written report.
Transportation
Nina passed out a written report.
December Wednesdays & Fridays
Nina passed out a written report noting that Patty Nordahl
will be working on Wednesdays on a Volunteer Video, and that
Dance will be held later this year. A meeting which includes
discussion of Learning Block 3 Wednesdays and fridays will take
place at 3:30 on Thursday, Dec. 4th at GES.
Policies
Patty recommended a variety of procedures to implement our Emergency
Policies. The board concurred and Patty will communicate the
results with the Staff.
5:55 New Business
Transitional Executive Director
Motion: Alan Stone moved
to accept the letter of transition from Deb Dwyer noting her
effective date of transition to be February 13, 2004; David
Parsons seconded; ayes all.
The borad expressed their immense gratitude to Deb and acknowledged
GES would not be here today had it not been for Deb.
6:10 Announcements
Board Insurance
Board requested that Deb double check to ensure our new
members were covered under our liability policy.
Open House Dec 16
Time was set for 3:00pm to 6:00pm with the Dedication at 3:00pm;
the Dedication will open with a student presentation.
6:25 Meeting Feedback
Gratitude was expressed to all for the dedication and
hardwork and the committment of our new and returning board
members.
