School Board Meeting Minutes
In Attendance:

4:08 Call to Order

4:12 Approval of Agenda
Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to
approve agenda with the addition to New Business of the following
topics: Shared Time Students, Parent Memo and New Policy. Amy
Brown seconded. Ayes all.

Approval of Minutes
Motion: Nina Simonowicz
moved to approve the March 10 minutes. Alan Stone seconded.
Ayes all.
Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to
approve the March 24 minutes. Suzy Schweig seconded. Ayes all.
New Business
The Board decided to send Kari Merritt to a one day Responsive
Classroom.
Shared Time Students
GES needs to find out what obligations we have with Virtual
Academy concerning students that are enrolled at the Academy
and want to attend GES part time.
Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved to
develop a protocol for any student wishing to attend GES on
a part time basis. Full time students are given preference until
we develop a protocol for part time students; pending okay from
State. David Parsons seconded. Ayes all.
New Policy
Patty Nordahl has updated our state required policies and laws.
GES needs to form an Inclusive Education Plan by May 15, 2004.
A committee needs to be formed to work on this plan.
Board Meetings
Visit with a Board Member from 3:30-4:00 to give parents a time
to ask questions, give ideas, etc. This will start April 29,2004
Money for the microwave was raised by parents. GES will match
this amount and purchase a microwave for student use.
Treasurer's
Report
Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved
to approve bills with POs. David Parsons seconded. Ayes all.
Motion: Nina Simonowicz moved
to approve the bills without POs, deleting out the second
Pearson Ed bill. Alan Stone seconded. Ayes all.
Motion: David Parsons makes a
motion to issue a $100 dollars in petty cash for each of the
educators. Patty Nordahl seconds. Ayes all.
Motion: Nina Simonowicz makes
a motion to take $500 from budget reserve to be given to educators
and Kari Merritt as petty cash. David Parsons seconded. Ayes
all.
Board Budget Meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 19 at
9:00am.
Educators' Report
A new progress report is being formulated by Rod Haenke of MACS
for the educators use.
Susan Larson Kidd will be visiting April 30.
Kari Merritt will start coordinating details for the MAPS testing
in May, working with educators input.
A process for new enrollees during middle of year needs to be
explored.
Old Business
David Parsons will contact Lauri Davis to inquire if GES can
be involved in the Kindergarten Round Up event.
Enrollment Update
30 students have reenrolled.
10 students have not responded.
5 new student applications
The breakdown is as follows:
4 - K-2
13 - 3-5
18 - 6-9 (3 9th graders)
ACNW
Mica Harju is lead person on Monday morning and Suzy Schweig
is lead person on Wednesday afternoon.
Final notice will go home on Thursday to emphasize crucial information.
Information
Fritz Sobanja has stepped down from Transportation Chair.
ISD 166 has donated radios for both buses.
Larry Livesay is new part time bus driver.
Food Committee
Eight hours a week allowed for Food Coordinator will be taken
up by state regulation tasks. This leaves lunch to be run by
strictly volunteers unless budget allows otherwise.
